Sometimes language speaks to me
Through punctuation
Surreal moments when
Words will jump up,
Slap me in the face and say,
‘HEY YOU, LOOK AT ME!!!!
I am saying something
Something you will regret
Should you remain?
Unobservant.
Knuckle down
Concentrate, shut everything out
Look and learn
You’d be an ignoramus
If it wasn’t for us.’
I like those moments
When I am one with the world
Nature beckons
The universe is stating
It’s all right
Your ignorance
Is astounding
So hold my hand
I will lead you
Educate, inform
Better yet,
Make whole.
Your words
Dance
Thrilling me
Your language
Sings from your page.

I hear you. Lead the way I will follow and lead the others. Well written I love the tone.
Thanks Kim, see what we can do..
🙂
Sometimes punctuation fails me…
It fails me too,or should I say I fail it.
It’s def the punctuation 😉
Well I’ll agree with you as you are all knowing. My I am a humble person learning everyday from the all knowing….
😆 😆 LMAO 😆 😆
You really gave me a good laugh here my friend! 😀
Ah it’s a good day when I get a laugh from you dear RoSy…
It is interesting to think about the importance of punctuation. I think, in poetry, sometime we break rules (at least I do); but generally I know the rules I am breaking. LOL. And, yes, it would be interesting to know what words would have to say if they could speak.
Thanks Mary, I’m sure if they could speak they may not be always complimentary of us.
Creative poem! Love it
Thank you, it was a fun write. Not everyone’s words can sing on the page.
Maybe some can but a little off key
Did you notice the influence of Aleph?
I am so thrilled you enjoyed Aleph that much. When I read that one part, something told me you had to read it.
I can’t help but throw it into so much. And I’m not finished yet.
That makes me SO happy
Well you put me onto a great book,so much in it for me.
I am finishing up my Book Thief
Wonderful isn’t it…
Yes but certain things annoy me. lol Like how often they refer to each other as a pig…seriously the author couldn’t find other German slang?
Ha you annoyed? That didn’t register with me but I could see why you would find it annoying. Not every book is perfect is it.
That is all they kept referring to each other…and that isn’t even the most common thing they say. Every reference to one another was the same thing. You should skim over the book again and you will see.
That bit about –“The universe is stating It’s all right. your ignorance is astounding So hold my hand.”
I Love, love, love it….
love the whole bit.. thanks for sharing.
Dee
Thank you Dee, happy the share it with you. Please call again.
I can relate to this. Words have always fascinated me and I’m afraid there are many times I let them down. But I keep trying. Maybe one day they will approve.
That is our journey in life to work with words, try each time to shape them better than the last time we used them. Thanks Jackie, lovely to see you.
Thanks Michael. Lovely to be seen. LOL, I’ve been super busy today and not on the computer sad to say, till now. It is our journey in life to work with words. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Look forward to seeing more of yours, and you are looking well!
Well thank you kindly sir! 🙂
You know you are always welcome…..I am learning North American etiquette. My generation did not say you’re welcome. We’d say “no worries mate!”
It all works, we also say “no problem”. If we were face to face a smile would be enough. We’re easy. haha.
That sounds a good idea….
🙂
Really profound, this is a favourite of yours!! 🙂 🙂
Thanks Helen, yes I did enjoy writing this one
Ahhh, our old friend punctuation. Many years ago when I first began writing, my idea of punctuation was to throw a cup of commas into the air, and where they landed on the page, that was where they stayed 😀
Hey what a good idea, but punctuation is a curse for many but you can’t really get by without it. One friend of mine doesn’t like question marks in poems? I don’t understand that one. Maybe I shall a poem one day about the virtues of punctuation, though I am sure it has already been done.
yes
the power words hold
to hurt, heal, teach, comfort
seduce…
Thank you so much for your comment.
I love it Michael!
Thank you so much Yves. Happy you enjoyed this piece.
Very much =)
I pout, as I very rarely go with what should be written – I do love a good !! though. I’m kinda with Lyn, throw em down see where they land, if they don’t look right to me, they’re out. Hmm did take note of the ? mark response too Mister 😉 Well done mate.
Couldn’t resist the idea that the ??? came into question with a particular friend of mine.
Punctuation, it either makes us or breaks us.
Hmm so I saw. Oh well it’s each to their own isn’t it??????????????? 😉
Hahahaha……?????!!!!,,,,,,
When I started writing essays in English, I realized punctuation was different from French usage. In poetry things are different as line breaks allow pauses in a way prose does not. Nice exploration of poetry writing, Michael!
Thanks Gabriella I appreciate your comments. English has so many odd rules let alone figuring out punctuation.
I indeed, am sloppy with punctuation.. Line breaks work for me.. But for sure it would be good to master it. But still the importance is in the text, the words that jump at you . Glorious write Michael.
Thank you so much Bjorn you are very generous.
I love the way you barely use punctuation in this poem about punctuation. Or use it slyly.
Thanks Marina I wondered how many would notice that.
