I have wizard ways I am told
They are not new
In my 120 years I have perfected
A few tricks
Sleights of hand
Look over there!
I am gone!
I can see a word
Know what you mean
Look between your words
Know how you feel.
You might say its intuition.
We wizards have heightened senses
We can tell when you are not yourself
Down a little
In need of a lift
And we can
With a word here or there
Do just that.
It’s the impish look in our eyes that
Betray our intentions.
I am always me, I operate
In the nicest possible way.
Except if a spell is required
Then it’s a serious business
Some hair of dog and eye of newt
Mixed in liberal amounts of gnat wee
Infused into your tea so you’ll never suspect
My magic is working
Making you see life
A little clearer.
I can take that dull edge
Off your world,
Give you a nudge
Send you packing
Wondering
What was the fuss?
So look out for me
I’m just around the next corner
The one in the corner of your vision
With the glint in my eye
The infectious smile
Watching.
For I do have wizard ways!

This is clever – and cute!
But … can I have mine without the gnat wee, please? 😉
Thanks Jen the trick of course is you will never know.
Ah, well …. guess as long as I don’t know it’s there and you never tell me, it’ll be okay. I think. But perhaps I should take some Pepto Bismol too. 😉
Are no Jen it will go down like babies milk.
… um ….. okay ….. I’ll trust you …. I guess ….. 😉
It’s kinda like when a waitress spits in your food before she serves it to you. You’ll never know, right?!!
That’s right but you think this tastes better than the last time.
Fun poem Michael. So Mr Wizard what is in between my lines? 😉
Ha Jackie if only I could reveal in this forum I would. Thank you for your comment.
This was so much fun, Michael. I’ll never drink tea again and not think of–you know. 😀
Well you will never know will you if my potion is in there or not. But if you feel better after then maybe it was.
This is very sweet and very good! I see you belong to the kind sorts of wizards.
Well Gabriella when you get to my age mellow is the way to go. Thanks so much for reading and your comment.
I’ll take whatever concoction you can give me right now. Agree with everyone a fun read.
I’ll send some down. Thanks Jenny appreciate your comment. Glad it gave you some enjoyment.
Those are the best wizard skills and a great use of magic.
Thank you nessa for reading and your comment. They are good useful skills aren’t they.
Wizard ways? Definitely when it comes to poetry. But also part Leprechaun I think — the impish glint in the eye gives it away 😉
You’ve been spying haven’t you. Thank you so much Lyn you are very generous.
Ah ha! Figured you were a wizard! I don’t drink tea. Can I have my magic potion (substitutes for the grossest ingredients) in a cup of coffee with real cream?
Works in coffee as well, but you may never know apart from feeling extra special good after.
Utterly charming!
Thank you for reading Larry. Happy you thought so.
Ooooohhh – I see – Wizard ways – eh?
I’d like to order a hocus pocus potion please. 🙂
A fun post Michael!
If you have a chimney RoSy I’ll pop it down for you. But only drink a little at a time, not sure how it might work on a RoSy.
