Poetry Prompt 34 – Doors – Bang, Bang

write-a-poem-which-features-the-opening-and-closing-of-doors

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

Oh you kids be careful

You’ll break those doors

My head is killing me

You kids will be the death of me.

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

Its John Mum, he did it

I didn’t you pushed me

Mum he’s being mean again

No I’m not you’re an ugly cow.

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

I’ll buy a lock, a huge lock

I’ll fasten the door, keep them out

The poor thing is thread bear as it is

What with all their comings and goings.

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

Mum? Can I get a drink?

Mum? Can I have a sandwich?

Mum? John looked at me.

Mum? Sandra’s a bitch!

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

There language is appalling

Have I taught them all that?

Am I a bad mother, a failure?

Can you all shut the fuck up?

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

Mum? Are you all right?

Mum? Sorry but are you crying?

Mum? Can we get you a cup of tea?

Mum? We’ll stop running, being mean.

Bang, bang, slam, slam

Crash, bang, slam, crash

It’s midnight, they are all asleep

The house is in some order

I can rest now, I am so tired

Tomorrow I’ll try sanity again.

Click, click, swish, swish

Settle petal, sleep softly now.

Wonderful poem, Michael. I was an only child, so I didn’t have any of this fun. My youngest daughter has five children though, and some of this sounds vaguely familiar 🙂
