This morning the sun rose
Heralding another warmish day
I can tell by the glare
The way the light penetrates
Leaving brighter than normal
Spotlights
On the objects it falls on
The walls flash back at me
The floor sparkles.
In my mind I am preparing
When will I go out?
Where’s my hat?
Sun block?
Glad I mowed yesterday
Today’s shaping up a stinker
But this is our lot
Its summer
It’s hot
More days than not.

Yep, I can so relate to the heat issue, the summer has final arrived!!! 🙂 🙂
Yes it has Helen we are doing ok here though….so far..
Ouch.. to have those days where it just stinks.. good to move the lawn when it’s possible…
Thanks Bjorn, you have to take your chances when you can, and the washing dries within an hour…lol
I can remember those kinds of days in summer, but I do think you are experiencing hotter days than normal there. We have had some years like that. You have captured the feel of the glaring sun. And I bet it must be HUMID too!
Yes humid it is though not so bad as other days, its morning now and that’s always a beautiful time of day. Thanks for the comment.
Described what we are suffering very well Michael. It is certainly a ‘stinker’ down here even now 😦
Thanks Jenny, sorry to hear it is a stinker so early in the morning, better keep your hat on today.
erm…no hat ~ hopefully 15 minutes in the sun and we’ll be done…
Ok, take care…..
ha. you realize i am supposed to get snow tonight…smiles…i could use a bit of that summer heat to make it easier to get out and about…you keep me dreaming forward to it though…everything is damp and dead here…
Thanks Brian you are welcome to any amount you would like to take, otherwise keep your winter woollies on.
A great description of my favorite time of year…only 3 – 4 months of winter to go.
Thanks for the comment, that’s all the hot summer we have too. Enjoy yours.
I’m not a fan of extreme winter temps or extreme summer temps. But – right now – I wish I was there instead of here.
RoSy, jump on a plane and come on down, at the moment all you’ll need are your shorts shirts and sandals, I was going to say ‘thongs’ but that word means something else over your way, they are footwear here…..Thanks
Hope you soon have more temperate temperarures, Michael! I remember our last heatwave. I had no wish to go out.
It’s a hard week over here, high temps, bushfires and dangerous time…We all hope for some milder weather, then again it is summer and we do get high tempts.
Tough times Down Under – too much heat and it gets really dangerous. A good time to stay out of the sun and write poetry. You could have some of our Scottish rain if you like … smiles
Thanks Tony, it is pleasing so many have offered me cold, rain and snow as a result of this poem. I would gladly have some today it will be about 41c. Have a good evening/day.
It’s funny to read of sweltering heat when Jack Frost is wiggling his toes with vigour here. Stay out of the sun.
Ciao
Pea
Thanks Pea, the reverse is happening here, with so many references to your cold. Gonna be a hot one today. Yes staying well out of it. Thanks again.
We’ve had more rain here than much of the country can cope with. I’m sure some wold be glad to have too much sun, right now! I loved the feel of this – indolent – just right for the heat!
Thanks Freya, some cold today would be good. Hot as, today.
