Poem 37

art 21

I love the dawning,

The half-light

snaking into our room.

I look at you

Asleep, breathing so gently

I do so like to wake up with you.

You begin to stir

I look at you

Your eyes awakening to the soft morning light

That is beginning to slip beneath the window blinds.

Your eyes open

Eyes lock

You smile

โ€˜Hello you.โ€™

We lie just taking in each other

The small curl above your eye has slipped

I brush it away

Your face I love.

Your hand touches my face

I rejoice in your touch.

We lie together

Your head on my shoulder

seeking my warmth

My arm encircles you.

I do so like waking with you.
