What Scares You

Unplaceable creaks in the night

Unfathomable sounds

You hear as you lay down to sleep.

What causes it?

Where is it?

Will it get me?

Of course not silly.

Why?

    I enjoyed your words – is trifecta a form (I thought it was a kind of bet, that just shows my misspent youth I guess!)

    sometimes I’m convinced that it’s only when our minds are quiet, that we hear the most. Esp what scares us.

    You always have to check that the creak you heard at night isn’t a serial killer coming to get you. Better safe than sorry! Good one!

    Wonderful…now I’m wondering why…reminds me of a few nights ago when I woke up convinced someone was walking heavily up the inside stairs in my townhouse only to realise it was actually my own heartbeat in my ear, resting against the pillow…so easy to spook oneself in he dark of the night, LOL!! 🙂 🙂

    Oh those creaks and thumps in the night…are usually my cats. I knew I had pets for a reason. Good writing!

    Oh – spooky happenings with certain noises, creeks, & squeaks.

    This makes me think of when I was in elementary school, and even junior high. We lived in a fairly old house that made lots of noises. I would swear the creaks and cracks were getting closer to my room- I even heard footsteps on carpet. I would have myself so terrified that I’d break into a sweat and was too scared to scream. I still have nightlights 🙂

    Yikes. I hope I can sleep tonight after reading these. 🙂 I’ve got both cats and kids, so I can generally explain away the bumps in the night. But. . .

    Oh Summers! You’ve chosen something that really scares me. I rarely get scared but when I do it’s just when I just lay down to sleep. Maybe it’s because we are at our most vulnerable, then. Excellent job!
