It was a normal day in the cemetery and being April 31st it was their one day of the year.
As evening settled, the first of the dead began arriving. Old Arthur Jones, long time inhabitant, floated by complaining that as the years past it was harder each year to find the motivation to celebrate. Josie Jones, the newest occupant, found herself being woken by the din above her.
The dead cavorted, dancing to the music of the band, Dead As.
This went on until sunrise when the bodies descended to the cold and discomfort of their resting places.

Nice one, Michael. Makes me think of Sumerian beliefs, where wine was poured through funnels into the soil above the burial for the inhabitants to enjoy a change from the usual dust.
Yes I guess there were numerous ways of staying in contact with deceased ones. Some wives/husbands took a bottle of whiskey and drank it as they sat by the grave. I imagine it was a wobbly walk home 😀
I was told by a Sarawakian, that once a year they go their beloved’s grave and there hold a picnic and ask the departed for new numbers for the coming year’s lottery. Hmm, indeed.
Having to go yearly says something about their predictions. The sort of luck I have.
