TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS – Valentine’s Day

Today’s prompt is:  Your worst Valentine’s Day experience.

I’d been both married a while and working just as long. I’d learned that any celebration day was fraught with danger because my wife at the time never appreciated anything you bought for her.

So imagine my surprise on Valentine’s Day when the florist deliveryman arrived at my classroom door with a bunch of red roses from my wife.

Needless to say my students were impressed I was ‘loved’ enough to deserve flowers.

But my joy was short lived as I discovered later it was all pretence. She did it to embarrass me and let people we worked with know she cared enough to send me flowers.

Once at home the default vitriolic position began again.

    Thank you for sharing.

You might have saved someone from staying in a relationship with a person who is that toxic just by sharing your experience. I know of several people who were, at one time, in a relationship with a narcissist. This story reminds me of their experiences. That has to be just about the worst kind of person I can imagine.

How sad! A person who does that sort of thing must be so chained by bitterness, that the only joy they can experience is through the pain of others.
