Today’s prompt is: Your worst Valentine’s Day experience.
I’d been both married a while and working just as long. I’d learned that any celebration day was fraught with danger because my wife at the time never appreciated anything you bought for her.
So imagine my surprise on Valentine’s Day when the florist deliveryman arrived at my classroom door with a bunch of red roses from my wife.
Needless to say my students were impressed I was ‘loved’ enough to deserve flowers.
But my joy was short lived as I discovered later it was all pretence. She did it to embarrass me and let people we worked with know she cared enough to send me flowers.
Once at home the default vitriolic position began again.
