There’s nothing you can do
When she reaches down to take your hand.
She floods every pore of your being
Your sense alight, she rolls over and says,
Do it again and again and again.
There’s nothing you can do
That lessens the thrill
Of knowing she is leaning on you
You like the way her head finds rest
You want her to stay, stay, stay.
There’s nothing you can do
When she whispers your name
Sings the magic only a heart can sing
She encloses you unto herself
You love being hers, hers, hers.
There’s nothing you can do
When she cries in your arms
For pain and hurt from long ago
You want so much to take it away
So you hold her, hold her, hold her.
There’s nothing you can do
When understanding her smile
Her allure melts you in every way
Repeatedly she finds reason to
Give herself to you, you, you.

I love when love can be so deep… there is something so affirmative in that repetition at the end of each stanza.
Thanks Bjorn that was the intention, have a good day..
The second to the last stanza is my favorite. Holding on when you can’t fix a hurt you didn’t cause is true love, indeed. This was a great reminder to me of how much my husband loves me.
Well its lovely Linda you could relate to it…thank you for that lovely comment..
Love the letting go, helpless to resist, yet not so.
Thank you so much..
I love the repeating lines at the end of the stanzas. It drives home that love so much. Makes me realize what a keeper I have in my husband.
That makes me happy knowing you can relate….
Splendid love poem, Michael, that reads like a song.
Thank you so much Jane….I did ‘borrow’ the opening line…
I didn’t recognize the ‘borrow’ but it did make me think of Bowie’s Absolute Beginners.
I don’t know that one.
Thank you for that link….I know it is probably akin to blasphemy but I have never been a great Bowie fan. Sorry if that offends you….he’s just never done it for me…
Course I’m not offended 🙂 I just assume everybody loves him.
Just have to love her back!! A lyrical love poem…
Thank you so much..
Another heart warming post Michael xxxx
Thank you Willow I always appreciate your kind comments.
I always mean them!!
I love the refrain and positive affirmation of the relationship ~ Sweetly romantic Michael ~
Thank you Grace, hope you have a great weekend when it comes your way..
What a touching and refreshing portrayal of true love. I finished reading with a sigh, thinking…”ah, perfection”!
Thanks Bev appreciate your comment
Nice description of pair-bonding.
Thanks Frank for stopping by.
What an excellent song. From her POV, there’s nothing like knowing you can lean against him and he will not move. My husband is strong, loving, and supportive like this.
Thank you so much Iris, it never occurred to me that so many readers would relate as you have done…
Thus is soo wonderfully stirring! Most romantic write, Michael 😀
Thank you Sanaa, that’s a lovely comment..
What Bjorn said. LOL! This is quite the love poem. And Lovely.
Thank you Jane, lovely you could stop by..
Of course I would, Michael. I stop by slowly, usually the next day. I think we all need to comment on other poet’s work. We need to extend ourselves and be supportive. We are a small and strange tribe.
Yes we are that Jane, small, strange and magically creative….how good is that??
Oh, gorgeous. Lovely when a man can be so romantic.
Thank you so much Rosemary….
Very nice.
Thank you Sean…
