#Maydays Prompt – It’s all geek to me!

Today’s #maydays prompt, all geek (and proud!)

I watched him across the playground

Always on his own, his mind far away

He didn’t engage with anyone

School must have been a nightmare.

Around the school corridors you’d see him

Walking close to the other kids like him

Or sitting with a group of boys

Their hands engaged in some lightning fast video game.

We wondered what might become of him

If it wasn’t for computers he was a lost child.

One day in the library

There was a problem.

The librarian gathered the schools best geeks

Or so she thought.

None could solve the problem

Things were looking dire

When the boy wandered in

Gave the melee of geeks a sideways look

Went on his way as always not engaged.

In desperation the librarian called him

Could he see if the problem was solvable?

He gave a curious look at the screen

And then at the keyboard

Pointed down and said: ”Press that key.”

Instantly the issue was resolved

Life returned to normal.

We who were there marvelled,

Wondered where he got this insight

To solve an issue so quickly

As though his mind locked into

The thinking of the machine.

Great write – you’ve captured the essence of those on the “outside” for whatever reasons – and shown how everyone, in some way, is special and has unique gifts and talents.

Interesting story. He out ‘geeked’ them all I guess. Well done Michael.
