For today’s prompt, write a poem about (or at) a food establishment.
My two youngest in tow
We lunched at Vintage on Melbourne.
What was once my local general store
Is now a café come restaurant
Serving superb food
In a beautifully relaxed atmosphere.
We decided to sit in the back garden.
The tone was old and comfortable
The tables set in under the rear of the shop
Sheltered beneath the upstairs veranda.
Our meals were excellent
My warm chicken salad delicious.
The salad with a delightful maple syrup
Added an unexpected but delectable
Taste to the roasted vegetables
Mixed generously through the salad.
We each had a different meal
We each enjoyed the choices we made
We each decided this was a place
We’d gladly eat at again.

Maple syrup, roasted vegetables . . . you have recreated a perfect lunch time and made me extremely hungry. Hummmm. Always have maple syrup, too late for French toast, but do have some yogurt . . . . . .
Bit late for lunch isn’t it…..good to know you feel hungry though…
My circadian rhythms are still backwards so I’m almost on Australian time, lol.
Well lunch is over here, it’s raining at last…..
The smell and feel of rain when the earth is parched is welcoming.
It is though I was already to go out and mow the lawn when the rain started…so oh dear, drats and all that, maybe tomorrow…..
Grass will be just that little bit taller, and your writing just that little bit longer.
yes, tied up in neat little knots I am hoping….the grass will wait, my words have a sense of urgency though….
Hope your words got written/spoken so the urgency would pass.
As you can imagine, your response to Yves collage sent me looking for Kleenex again — such beautiful words, emotions, sentiments. So wonderful. Happy makes me cry, too.
Happy can have that effect on the unhappy…..some days my words tumble out like they did here…..
Your tumbling words say so much; from the heart and the spirit.
I always hope happy for others; it’s a more precious an emotion than people sometimes realize.
Yes I think so too.
Yum, the food sounds good. Great job on this poem!
Hi Mandi thanks so much, it was very delicious…
I’m glad you had a lovely lunch. Sounds beautiful too.
It was Jen, next time you up we might go here…
