‘Listen to the falling rain listen to it fall’
That lyric line from my childhood
Has stayed with me.
I loved playing the song,
I loved the rain.
Though when there is too much
And water starts up my backyard
I do begin to worry.
Rain is a blessing
It cools a hot afternoon
It promotes growth
It gives me reason to mow my lawn.
It is the perfect backdrop to read by
Curl up with a loved one and watch a film
To lie in bed at night and allow it to lull you off into sleep.

I live in one of the rainiest places in the US and have never felt affection for rain until reading this. Maybe it all depends on who you share the rain with? Lovely piece, Michael.
Yes indeed Mandy it makes all the difference…
I thought so.
Well done. I love the rain.
Thank you J SoDo I…
Today we have a sunny break, so I suppose I’ll have to go out for a short walk and fresh air 🙂
Good go out and fill those lungs with God’s clean air……
I did–and I ran into my neighbor at the store, so he drove me home–an extra blessing!
You have been blessed today J, angels appearing from all sorts of places…
They are indeed–you’re one of them, flying through the blogs sprinkling goodness! In awhile I’m going to bake muffins–sound good?
Listening to the rain on a roof, letting in drop of your face on a warm summers day, it’s magical. Well done mate.
You have written so comfortably about the rain. Rain as a companion; rain as a consort.
That’s how I see it, as a friendly entity…
She smiles again, “friendliness of the rain depends on the violence of the storm. A positive approach, however, does make the rain seem less deadening.”
