Finish the story begins with: “Pizza anyone?”
Mum stood at the kitchen door watching us move as a tsunami towards the pizza.
Mum’s pizzas left us as drooling idiots. She knew just the right amount of ingredients to put on them. She would wait until the house was full of pizza aroma before opening the oven and letting her cooking titillate our senses.
We sat around the table while mum sliced it up. There was always plenty, in fact we often received a second piece, which amazed us as mum cut very generous slices.
Mum would stand back and watch us devour her hard work with a contented look on her face.
One night after one of her pizza treats I looked back at the pizza tray realising it was still half full. Mum happy her six kids were fed had a smile on her face and giggled slightly as she cleared the table.

I love homemade pizza! My son in law makes the most amazing teriyaki chicken pizza. It’s great to see a happy Mum after she’s fed her kids 🙂
Yes it is Lyn. Thanks for stopping by.
Love is a full tummy after mums cooking, I’m sure you enjoyed them immensely.
I’m sure they did. Tonight we are having pizza. Though it will be dad’s pizza.
Kitchen magic? Certainly sounds like it was necessary… Intriguing story!
Thank you Sonya, thanks for stopping by. Magic indeed.
Wow! How big was that pizza? Great story 😀
Well that is the question I think. Or is it??? Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hmmmmm. Sounds like a magic pizza tray.
Yes indeed, don’t you have one?? Tonight I hope to get mine going as the kids are coming for a pizza night.
Ours makes rectangular pizza’s with four kinds of pizzas.
Four kinds? Really. You Americans are so far ahead of us down under the world…
Ah, this is a Canadian pizza my husband makes from absolute scratch. Canadians like cheddar. It’s on the pizza.
The original pizza pan is warped and burnt so have to see if the replacement can do as good a job.
I’ve had Australia cheddar and it isn’t half bad.
We are all like that, not half bad….lol
Hope that magic pizza pan came through and the pizza party went well. How many cheeses?
Pizza party happens in a few hours. Only one cheese, shredded……lol
Oh and a Danish feta
Can I come to supper next pizza night? Danish Feta sounds good — I’m assuming it’s a Danish pastry with feta rather than cream cheese?
PS: Enjoy your evening!
Its the real thing as far as feta goes at any rate…..
Mom has a bit of magic under her belt! How cool is that! I would love to be sitting at her table with endless pizza! I enjoyed the story Michael! Thanks again for participating in the MFtS challenge! See you next week! Be well… ^..^
Thanks Barb, mum’s pizza tray is special then again I think so is mum…
Wish she was my Mom! 🙂
That was wonderful – everyone had their fill of pizza and the pizza plate was still half full. You make me so hungry for pizza reading this.
Thanks Joy glad you enjoyed my tale…
I did!
I loved the magical element to this story. And what a great line – the kids descending on the pizza like a tsunami. Great visuals.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
This sounds wonderful! there’s nothing like a loving mum’s homemade pizza treat.
So true especially one that seems to have a never ending amount.
The visuals are great, and there is something magical about that pizza tray.
So true Francesca, thanks for dropping by.
At home – I only eat pizza if it’s homemade.
Once you have homemade – the other stuff is craptacular.
Yes my children were impressed I have to say, the Italian style bases did help I think.
I think Mum might have a bit of a magic touch with pizza… Great story. 🙂
Thanks Louise, yes I think she may….
I love the magical element you’ve woven into this! I think Mum’s had help from those fairies in your garden! Great description of the six kids advancing on the kitchen like a tsunami. My six used to do that, too. They could smell baking a mile away. Lovely story, Michael. 🙂
Thank you Millie. Even though they have their own lives now we do enjoy each others company every few weeks. They also put in orders for my cooking, like today I had to make a big batch of salmon patties as one of the girls is going away for Easter and likes her dad’s patties.
I hope you all have a lovely get together and enjoy your wonderful sounding salmon patties. I imagine the’re what we call salmon fishcakes over here.
Yes the same thing I imagine though I put a little curry in some to give them another dimension.
A little kick. They sound yummy. 🙂
I love your spin on the mundane 🙂 I make Pizza from scratch too but I use an epic heavy steel plate that I wish was auto refilling
Thanks Kate I think we all wish every cooking implement was like that.
move as a tsunami… left us as drooling idiots…. devour her hard work…
Wow! So many great vocabulary/ sensory word choices! Loved it!
Thanks so much Roger for your comment, very much appreciated.
Thanks to Mum’s kitchen magic you have lunch for all the kids tomorrow! Great story – well told.
I just had pizza I ordered a couple of days ago, and reading this, I’m now hungry for the homemade kind. Mom seemed to be making magic in the kitchen as well as pizza. Good story, well done, Michael. 🙂 — Suzanne
