This week’s prompt: …so what time did you say it was?…
I awake. My face is buried in long grass. My mouth feels like a gravel pit.
My body doesn’t want to know what happened, or when.
My mind thinks, trains, planes, a ticket to somewhere.
I will my head to lift, survey the scene.
The scrub is thick. I listen no noise. Where am I?
The silence wraps around me.
I am suddenly afraid.
Is this death?
A pain in my leg answers the question.
It screams agony.
I panic.
I recall a voice: So what time did you say it was?

That was great, Michael. The prompt is so well used. I can see that as the opening of a much longer piece. It could go just about anywhere.
Thanks Lyn, appreciate your comment. I agree with you about it going anywhere.
Sounds like a rough awakening after Dublin’s Irish pub crawl, Michael. 🙂
You make it sound like you have some experience of such things.
Lol. No, that’s one thing I haven’t experienced, Michael. Maybe I’ve read Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes too many times. 🙂
Ha……fiction Mandy can lead you astray.
Must have been quite a bender. I agree, this sound like it could work into something big. 🙂 All kinds of possibilities churn.
Thank you so much for your encouraging comment.
You are welcome. 🙂
