Wolf Weekly – New Years Edition – This week in the woods.
Larry Lupine reporting today on the events in the woods this week. This week in Wolf Weekly we have a packed edition to set your hearts on fire and ignite those passions for those forbidden delights only found in the woods.
This week there were three pigs who were foolish in building their houses to close to the lair of Roger and Clara McWolf who decided a bit of huffing and puffing would be needed to rid themselves of the pesky pigs. In a rare turn of events Clara reported that the pigs had turned the tables on them and a stalemate had been reached as well a siege at the brick pig house. There have been reports that Roger met with a steamy end but we are awaiting conformation on that. The siege is on going with the taste of bacon on everybody’s lips.
The big news of the week was to found at Granny’s Bring and Buy. Her grand daughter Miss Red Riding Hood was apprehended by the wolf police as she made her way through the woods to Granny’s house. It had long been suspected that the innocent looking Miss Hood was in fact smuggling cakes and treats to Granny and doing all she could to bypass the wood taxes.
It is a very common practice for all who travel the woods to pay their travel tax to the attending policeman when asked. This has been going on since fairy tales began and guarantees a hassle free journey through the woods. But Miss Hood made up some cock and bull story about Granny being ill and needing to feed her the cakes and treats to aid in her recovery.
Now Granny is a strong as an ox as was discovered some years ago when the axe-man attempted to break into her house and at the same time pin the crime on Ralph the Wolf Gardener. In that incident Granny was far to wily to fall for the axe-man’s ploy and the whole episode was handled effectively by the Wolf Police and the axe-man sent up the river for a long stretch.
Miss Hood put up such a convincing story that she was allowed to go on her way but did arouse the interest of the police who followed her to Granny’s.
They watched Miss Hood enter and when they approached Granny’s there was far more than bringing and buying happening. The attending policeman a hardened officer of twenty years, was found blushing at the sight before him.
There in the room was Granny, Miss Hood and a variety of unseemly characters involved in a poker game in which the stakes were indeed high. Cakes and treats were flowing left and right; the high stakes game resulted in several players losing their shirts and in the case of Granny being given one.
When police stormed the room all hell broke loose. Cakes and treats were sent flying in all directions, there were denials a plenty and Granny sheepishly donning a bonnet proceeded to play the innocent old granny.
But the evidence had been gathered. She and Miss Hood didn’t have a left to stand on. Both were put in cuffs, carted off to prison and the police once again triumphant in knowing they had once again maintained law and order in the woods.
The Police Commissioner Sir Randy Wolfenton issued a statement reassuring the woods community that the police were there to preserve the woods as a place all could flourish in.
Granny’s Bring and Buy had been bought!
Next week we have an insightful interview with the much-maligned Rumpelstiltskin who gives his side of the story: Straw can it really be spun in to gold?

Thank you Georgia it was a fun way to look at this tale. Have a good weekend.
Did you know that Neil Gaiman wrote a short detective story based on Humpty Dumpty …
No I did not but I’d believe it. He is a great writer. Good omens is one of my favourite books.
I love Good Omens … just finished Neverwhere. Here’s the link to the short story:
