Poetry Prompt 47 – If walls could talk – Wallsy and Morts.

write-a-poem-which-imagines-the-tales-that-a-specific-set-of-walls-would-tell-if-they-could-talk

It’s good being a wall

The stories I could tell.

My friend, in fact my bestest friend

Mortar, oh I have to admit

I’m really stuck over him

And it’s a good thing really

We are bound to each other.

A love made in heaven I say

My bits and mortar’s bits

Interwoven, stuck like glue

My mother used to say.

She was a fence my mum,

Lowly always getting wet when it rained

Where as me, no way Jose I say

I’m tall and strong

No chinks in me,

Good today as the day I was built.

Mortar and I we sometime, well

You know how it is when you fancy someone

You set up a secret rendezvous?

Well do often.

I say, ‘Morts I say,

Meet at the corner, Midnight?’

He says, ‘Wallsy, I’m there already.’

So never think I have it bad

There’s lots of walls got it worse

There’s lots of walls that are no more.

So Mortar and I, we are ok

We’ll happily stand for many a day.

Mom was a fence – eh?
Must have been quite a scandal when she gave birth to a brick! 😉
