Last week I watched you, dear Treasurer
Play with the lives of the poor
As you showed them the door
To a new poverty never seen before.
I had to endure your words
Get out of your seat and earn or learn
What callousness I thought for you to yearn
To make the lives of the young so termed.
Their worth to be judged in economic woes
No work, no help, no monetary gain
You are just going to prolong the pain
Creating an underclass that’s plain.
So those of you so well off
Best be careful when comes the day
To cast a vote they’ll make you pay
They’ll send you packing when they have their say.

yikes, well done x
Thanks Justine. Have a good day.
Yes, I saw this too. It seems terrible for a great many people.
It certainly does. Are you in Australia too?
Yes, Adelaide ordinarily. Although at the moment I am visiting my sister in London.
Ah well enjoy your time away. I live in NSW. Hunter Valley.
*ahem* visiting your sister and OTHER folk 😉
I hope you guys play fair when you meet up.
I think Big Ears and Noddy are in a bit of trouble when it comes to the popularity stakes. “Pensioners will only pay for the first 10 visits each year.” Okay, Mr Treasure, what about those who have chronic heart conditions and have to see their doctor every 4-6 weeks? That means they’ll be paying all the time. Sorry Michael, don’t know why I’m sounding off here. You’re not Little Joe. I’m in the middle of writing him a letter 😉
Go for it Lyn, I think they are going to have trouble getting a lot of it thru the senate from what I heard tonight. It’s disgraceful some of the measures they are proposing, but then again if you understand their brand of politics, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. And they’ve done that again.
I really felt this. I felt the unease in your words that we in Oz have all been feeling. The words “new poverty” and “underclass” accurately describing the Australia under this government…
Good for you Charlie, it’s dreadful what this will mean to many young people. Thanks for your excellent comment.
Interesting write my friend.
I know your dad wouldn’t agree…lol…thanks for reading.
Hmm hence no further comment 🙂
Ha. Less said the better.
So agreed 🙂
This was a new topic in me, not being an Aussie… it sounds like a very uncomfortable situation, the rhyme works really well – I was intrigued about where people would go with this prompt.
Thanks Pooky yes I am aware it was a tad political in tone as there is a lot being said about this at present.
It seems like the governments everywhere are only for the rich, as in Canada they feel the same and the states too. Time for a revolution!!
Maybe common sense if that doesn’t work well consider revolution. Thanks Jackie for your comment.
Politics…*()&(^&^%$%^#$#@!
Hey that’s what we say too.
