Dawn awakens me
I look to the light
The silence deafening
I expected you sooner
You said two days
But no word
No call.
I am greeted instead
By this dove.
It flies into my window
As if heralding your arrival
A false hope I know.
I watch as it dances
Wings resplendent
Astounding beauty
Its message a mystery
Or one I am in denial of.
Do I give up?
Resign myself to my continued
Loneliness, despair
When you suggested love
Life, a desire
I have not known.
I am feeling the fool,
Naked, exposed to the world
Though as you prance at my window
I sense hope is not what you are a harbinger of.

How sad to wait for a love that will not be. Well matched words to the pic Michael.
Thank you Jenny, it is sad indeed.
I agree you’ve conveyed such longing and vulnerability in this wonderfully done
Thank you Yves, this is always an interesting prompt, thank you.
I am so glad you think so XD I quite enjoy finding the photos and seeing what stories people tell
Nothing is worse than feeling foolish.Hope, even if false, is hard to give up.
Thanks Lola, yes I agree hope is sometimes worth hanging onto just to lessen the pain of disappointment.
I am amazed at how differently we saw this prompt! Which makes your poem even more powerful to me! Beautifully written!!! Love it!
Thanks CC I did read your poem yes the beauty of these photos is the different takes we all have on them.
Well done Michael. I felt the loneliness.
Thank you Jackie, appreciate you as always.
How sad. I remember feeling like I was never going to have anyone to share my life with. I swore I was gonna’ be alone forever. And – then – poof – one day my prince charming appeared.
That’s lovely RoSy and I’m am sure he is all you imagined. So long as he stays away from the pond.
I’m the one that needs to stay away from the pond…I don’t swim. LOL
I was thinking should hubby feel the urge to go back to the frogs. You may have to keep kissing him to make sure he doesn’t.
