My load is huge, heavy, tedious
I’ve dragged it
Miles now
No!
A lifetime.
Bits fly off
Discarded
Redundant
I watch them dropping away
Sad old burden
Where ever I go.
Not everything is baggage
My books contain my wisdom
Volumes of recorded knowledge
Each word inscribed in learning.
An age of insights into wantonness.
Collected from my life experiences
Gathered from battles won and lost
Through defeat I have won
Through victory lost
It’s all there some pencilled in
Some indelibly so.
Words shaped to create meaning
Outlining my particular leaning.
A past sin drops off
Ten words spoken in anger
A lover of little consequence.
I check my purple patch is safe
Must be retained
My hope
My light in this darkness.
Happy to let go
Pain,
Anguish,
Despair.

Loved this poem and picture.
Thanks so much O. I appreciate you reading.
Powerful words Michael!
Thank you Yves. Happy anniversary.
Michael you are always the first to write! {grins} This is very beautiful and moving. May I reblog this?
Go for your life Oliana, I will be most flattered.
For my life? Now that sounds exhilarating {grins}
Oh another little Aussie expression. Meaning you are most welcome to do so as in reblog in this case. I should be more careful…..maybe..
Haha, yes, I did miss that meaning…perhaps if I’d heard the accent….
Well you know how it is matey, some days you just have to be there to hear it…Thank you for the reblog, I am truly flattered you would do so.
You’re welcome, Michael. Some posts move me and merit to be shared.
Thank you so much Oliana. You have made me smile.
Now that is a long smile because it came from 23 hours away….{grins}
You see that’s the thing about living in the future I can smile but you have to wait to find out why.
Haha…so true. I dont hv to wait if I peak on Aussie blogs.
True, we are very generous to you less fortunate behind our time folk. We give you an occasional peek into the future.
Thank you kind master.
No worries.
🙂
Reblogged this on Traces of the Soul and commented:
A beautiful poem of humble reflection…much to ponder.
I read poems like this and it makes me nervous even to try poetry, i feel such a novice. I think wow could my head ever be there
Well give it a go and find out.
The only advice I would give it to write as succinctly as you can and write about something you know. It’s a good way to start.
yes true 🙂 that photo is interesting
Oh I commented on this on Traces of the Soul, didn’t realize it was re-blogged there xx
All good Justine. Comes back to me anyway.
heh good
So well written Michael. Well done!
Thank you Jackie, I appreciate you reading and your comment.
Very truely a piece of art…I like the idea of bits and pieces flying off…like harsh words and other redundantcies…this is a poem to read over and over again.
Thank you Georgia, I have already heard that comment and I thank you for your response too. Please do so.
Ah…I’ll have to go read your comments!
You are a walking, talking poetry of life!
Thank you RoSy, you think so? Hmm I guess that’s a good thing. Hope you’ve had a good day.
Yep.
Was nice.
The kids are on spring break this week & I’m working from home. 🙂
Kids are on holiday here too. I live opposite a high school so it’s quiet this week. Enjoy your time with your girls.
The boy was here too – until today. He is now with his grandparents (my in laws) for the rest of the week.
As for you – enjoy your week of peace & quite in the hood.
Thanks, everyday is a good day RoSy.
Sorry I didn’t know.
This post is almost 2 years old & he has matured quite a bit since then – but – this may explain him a bit – LOL

Thanks RoSy, you have help me understand. He does look like his mom.

I like the long journey this poem paints. A life time packed and carried with us to where ever we go. Each item precious and no to be left or forgotten. Well written Michael.
