The girl with the coffee
Sits across from me.
I watched her glide,
Gracefully, each limb in perfect synch.
Her body rhythms fascinate me
The feline reconnoitres
Her movements deliberate
Unhurried as if time doesn’t matter.
Her imbibing is lap like
A sip, a look around,
The preening begins
A mirror focused, convincing.
She purrs to the waitress
Her order answered promptly
Her eyes flash momentarily
That look at aggression, assuredness.
I watch as she scrutinises her meal
Gathers in the aromas before ingesting
The silkiness continues
I am enraptured, enthralled.
The girl with the coffee
Slides from her seat, sleek and shiny
Pads her way to pay
Flashes a smile, sidles out into her day.

ha. i think i might be a bit mesmerized by her…and her feline ways….
but yeah, i have seen someone like that….smiles…cool pic too
Thanks Brian inspired by a friend of mine this morning.
I enjoyed your portrait, Michael! People with feline ways usually like to attract some kind of attention, don’t they?
It would seem so Gabriella it’s all in the body rhythms I think. Thanks for reading.
Ah the girl with the coffee is cat like is she? Feline and looked after, well I”m not sure felines like to attract attention, it’s usually they don’t realize they are attracting attention and that’s why they are so attractive in the first place. Well done, especially if you know someone like that.
Thanks Jackie. Well I know a girl with coffee so that’s one thing I guess.
I would love to be as elegant and self-assured as that! I would no doubt dribble, spill and trip on my way out! Wonderful observations, Michael.
Ha Freya and here I was think you were the most elegant of ladies. Another image dashed. Thanks for reading and your fun comment.
🙂
I have my moments… 🙂
Don’t we all…lol
I have never lived one moment of confidence like hers. But I can SEE it, through your poem.
Thank you so much Sherry I am glad you could see her. Don’t we all wish to be so confident.
That was cool. I’ve never heard of anyone going the other way with it, from animal to human. It’s not anthropomorphic, don’t know what you’d call it, cattish? 🙂
Thank you Walter it’s what you want it to be. Cattish sounds reasonable to me.
Meow that was sexy in a sophisticated way beautifully written I want to be her lol
Thanks Justine, just let your imagination go, you can be anyone.
Imagination is such a wondrous gift isnt it?
Makes everyday interesting Justine.
It does, and it’s a gem finding those moments or avenues that open up our imagination to newer and greener pastures 🙂
Great idea to use the cat/girl as a response to this post. Some of us are cats…I’m a dog! Ha.
Thanks Victoria, I did enjoy your post too.
oh i think we all know some of those cat women… way cool description here….
Thank you so much Claudia, glad you enjoyed it.
i like how you have dealt with the prompt. the feline qualities of a woman. nice.
Thank you kamana I am happy you enjoyed my poem. Please call again.
Ha, ha, love your unusual take on this prompt. Yes, I think I’ve known or at least seen women like that. Although I think the most attractive thing about cats is that it is not necessarily deliberate and manipulative (although, scrap that, sometimes it is…)
Thanks Marina happy you enjoyed this poem.
I love your take on woman/cat. Lovely.
Thank you Ayala appreciate your comment.
I can clearly see a girl like that.. how everyone else around just seems to bend her way… and that sudden threat.. very feline.. like a hidden claw in that soft paw.
Thanks Bjorn, good to see you can connect with this girl.
Female as feline … beware my fellow writer, beware!
Thank you for your comment, I think? I’m always beware.
Tongue firmly in cheek.
So is mine.
Wow – niiice!
Thank you sooooooo muuuuch.
