I feel wretched. The news has devastated me. I want to curl up and disappear but I know life doesn’t work like that. With all eyes on me, shame and guilt written all over my face, I stood before them hearing their disgust. I had to run, get away, find this hole, a place of sanctuary, bury myself well away from the derision they are hurling my way.
Here I can take stock, listen to you, take in what you say away from the raucous taunts that I have been subjected to.
I know you are here, always here, sitting on my shoulder, my angel of love. You protect, you stick up for me, I know its you speaking through me when life goes awry. Right now its you I need, your shoulder to lean on, your words reassuring me it wasn’t my fault, I acted in good faith, I am ok.
Your love is unconditional, embrace me.
shame and derision
heart far greater than all life
love enfolds me

Wow. I love that.
You can feel the pain and then the angel wrapping her arms around him for comfort. Well written.
And well done for being first for a hat-trick 😉
Thanks Al I find story comes easy with Anja’s art. Glad you enjoyed it. We did very well last week.
We did. We matched the same amount. I am very impressed. It has had a knock on effect to my Photo Fiction as well
That’s great Al, I’m happy for you.
Lovely. A lot of emotion is shared with the reader.
Thank you Patricia, the prompt lent itself to great emotional output.
I wonder what it is he did, regardless the angle wings were there to protect and comfort and that it is a good thing. Nicely penned.
Thanks so much Jenny, it’s the comfort and love that is most important.
There should be more Angels…
We are spread lightly around the world.

Yes, lucky aren’t we. Thank you.
So beautiful dear Michael, captured me. Thank you, love, nia
Thank you for reading Nia, I am pleased you could connect.
When I first started reading your beautiful poem Philip Seymour Hoffman immediately sprang to mind…..it is a sad day in the US and the world, for we have truly lost another great actor. I loved your contribution this week. It speaks volumes to me… 🙂
Thank you Courtney, I didn’t know about Philip Seymour Hoffman until I read this comment. I hadn’t noticed it on the news. So yes a sad day indeed. Thank you for your comment, I am glad, I guess, that it triggered that association.
w-o-w , I love it! Amazing written!
Thank you Tina, not everyday a reader says W-O-W, so I feel flattered by your comment.
I love it, so wonderful the idea of an enfolding personal angel.
Thanks Brenda, I like the idea of angels.

Angels come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes hidden within ourselves…
Thanks for your visit and kind words. ~Jules
Thank you Jules and you are welcome.
Powerful imagery. Good to have that kind of angel close by at times like that.
Thanks so much Paul and yes they are handy to have around.
So moving..I can feel the embarassment and pain: such a wonderful catharsis the vision of your loving angel!
Thank you Georgia, I am happy your saw this in this haibun.
🙂
It is wonderful when the angels come close and hold us in our hours of deepest need. Your haibun is powerful and moving.
Thank you so much Suzanne I appreciate your comment.
