You didn’t know but I saw you
Standing, laughing with that creature
The one whose name I struggle to utter.
He who took it upon himself
To feast upon your vulnerability
He recognised well and truly your Achilles.
And I imagine the ravage that occurred
You oblivious to his gluttonous appetite
Giving so much, everything one way.
But then I saw you hadn’t changed
A fool still, him looking lecherously
Upon your form you offered so easily.
So much for warnings, so much for fate
You wouldn’t listen, you knew it all
You thought I was jealous, envious of your love.
But what love was it you lusted after
The love of notice, of empty words
Uttered in tones you wanted to hear.
Now I see you again, panting like a dog
Hanging on to his every word
Oblivious to his carnal intention.
Fool you!

Sometimes others can see things that the one in a particular situation cannot. Perhaps this kind of ‘love’ (or whatever it is) is truly blind…at least for a time.
Thank Mary, lovely to see you you again

😦 pfft

Shame on anyone who takes advantage of anyone’s blind love.
Sadly it happens much too often.
And – to warn someone – sometimes just makes them detach more from those who really do care.
Thank you RoSy, yes it does happen too often and it is not ever a pleasant topic to write about. Thanks as always for your comment.
So much reality in this! When it’s a friend or a loved one it’s happening to, you want to shake them and yell, “open your eyes and look.” Sadly, that wouldn’t work. Poor them. Your poetry is moving and heartfelt, Michael.
Thank you so much Lyn. I am pleased you read my work.
A wise lover looking upon a fool indeed! There are no words that can get someone to remove their blinders. They will have to want to see the light themselves.
True, so true. I knew a person once who knew everything. They now lead a lonely life
Yep, that is how it is! If only people listened more and talked less. Ah, what a world that would be! 🙂
Yes exactly.
🙂
