Travel safely friend
It’s a long way home,
Be careful,
Not everyone will drive like you.
I shall breath a sigh of relief
When I know you are safely home.
It’s the time of year
When people travel
Far and wide
With little time,
Tired, sleepy,
Manic in behaviour.
Not everyone at ease with their drive.
Lucky you have a trusty companion
Who will chatter away
Share stories
Laugh and keep you awake
Enjoy with you
Your precious time together.
Take care.
Safe travel to all travelers at this time of year. Often too much grief on our roads

That’s true, there is a lot of grief on the roads this time of year….caused by personal carelessness, unfortunately.
This is so true, that’s why when you know loved ones are out on the roads you pray they arrive safely.
Always! And also wait for their call to let you know they arrived home safely 🙂
How frightening it must be for the loved ones of those that don’t make it home. An important message in this write Michael. Mr. S’s son-in-law to be got T-boned last night in his car – luckily a big one and he was okay – but the car rolled 3 times… Be safe – be wary- not weary when behind the wheel.
So true Jenny, it doesn’t discriminate, so being alert is so important.
I hope Mr’s SIL is ok.
yes we think so haven’t heard today – so assuming yes – thank you
Good to hear that.
Here’s hoping all make it home safe and sound.
I don’t know what its like over your way but already here there have been tragedies on our roads this Christmas.
Oh over here also Michael mostly because of snow, cold and ice. That’s why I stay home and in, I’m becoming quite the hermit.
Me too, happy to stay put. Even yesterday when I took my son to the airport there was more traffic than I was used to.
Yeah, I’m not good with a lot of traffic anymore. Getting too darn old is the problem. ha!
I find that hard to believe Jackie, a young lady such as your self.
Traffic is generally well-managed here and there are very few accidents. Nice sentiments =)
Thanks Yves, we have every Christmas some tragedy or two on our roads, people fatigued and speeding. I have friends traveling this weekend and that inspired me.
I wish you friends and loved ones safe travels =)
Thank you.
I hope they reached home safely
Oh how it is a worry this time of year!! I am relieved I live closer now and not 6 hours away from my children with these icy, slippery roads. Just a text to say they are safe is all I ask on their return.
getting in the car just to drive a short distance can be hazardous. your poem, a great reminder for all especially night driving and icy road driving. ugh. i love it when people forget to turn off their bright lights as they drive by you at night. hopefully they just forgot and not drive as a rude person.
Yes that’s so easy to do if you are not concentrating and we have all done it from time to time, though hopefully I am more considerate, most of the time.
Oh yes! It’s always a relief when everyone is back home safely! 😀
yes, not so good things happen at this time of year. I pray traveling friends make it home safely.
Very wise message, told so warmly!! 🙂 🙂
Thank you Helen. Must be my age, all this wisdom.
awwww and now we know everyone traveled safely. 🙂
You see there was a reason, a bit of down under magic….
🙂
