Do some songs make you cry?
Does the lyric and haunting melody move you?
Do such moments spark a melancholy
That spirals you into a past hurt?
Do you linger on the line
That promotes tears
As you retreat further inward?
But when the moment presents itself
Do you eagerly hit replay?
For whose fault is it
When you lose your way?

interesting questions posed my friend and yes I am guilty of hitting replay, to self indulge in my own misery (thankfully that has been some years) but music – lyrics captivate, haunt and inspire me, mostly for good not evil now – enjoyed your thoughts. 🙂
Thanks RM, happened when I was listening to the song mentioned. Realised I was a bit of a soppy wet tissue sometimes….but only in private mind you….keep it to yourself…
sssh your secret is safe with me 😉
Thank you….(whispered)
Ah, I can totally relate to this. I have a slightly obsessive tendencies at times, and when I hear a song that really hits me, I listen to it over and over and over again. While the song may not spiral me into a past hurt, sometimes the pain in the song accompanied by a haunting melody is enough to hook me. Such thought-provoking questions. 🙂
Dear Cubby thank you for that comment and for following my blog. Please visit again. If you know the song you’ll understand why someone like me would find it a repeat song..
Now you’ve got me playing it again…..oh well..
oh, very good poem with questions to reflect…i always blame everything on the dog. 😆
have a great week.
They are good to blame for no matter how you yell at them they will always want to come back and lick you.
that is so true – even with the most abused ones. so sad some animal cruelty cases. truly are our best friends.
Thank you dear Sun person, your comment is appreciated.
Ohhh music…it can touch us on many levels. I find that a cry quite easily even at commercials. I am not the one who will hit repeat if a song is upsetting me. I find another one and re-visit the emotional song when I am in a better place. When I am down, I try to find a way out and not dwell although that can be hard at times.
Yes i agree with the finding a way out, but sometimes there are moments when the melancholy feels justified and I will wallow in it, hence press repeat. thankfully I have more songs at the other end of the spectrum. Thanks BA.
A few songs can make me a bit emotional – only because they remind me of my brother that passed away.
Yes there are those songs that remind us of sad times….thanks rosy, I am sorry to hear of your loss.
