Photo Challenge #65, Sadness, June 16, 2015 – A Boy Wanting to Love a Girl

What will it take to reach you?

I cry for you daily

As I watch from afar

Your struggles in an abyss

With demons

Who covet you maliciously.

There’s one who stole your childhood

Who destroyed all that you loved.

One whose spitefulness

Deprived you of loved ones

The one boy,

Genuine and true to you.

What will it take to reach you?

For you are locked away

In a place so deep I fear

You may never reappear.

One factor has remained constant

In your heart you have craved love

Mysterious to you

Framed in so many devious ways

Where one hand gives

The other takes away.

Where lovers have used and abused you

Taken from you all that was sacred

How can I reach you?

When all doors to your heart

Are locked and welded shut.

I am me a poor and wretched soul

Inexperienced in matters of the heart

My own journey a damaged and injured one

From tasting a woman’s callousness.

But I know love, I know me,

My hand I extend,

‘Tis strong and safe.

For though you do not see me

My words I know you see.

You don’t always have to be sad

I know now how to reach you.

If I wait and show

By being me, waiting each day

You’ll wake up to see

Standing here with patience

A boy wanting to love a girl.

Journal Monday Prompt #10 – My Youth

Picture 047

Picture 047

This week’s prompt: write about someone you’ve lost.

I knew him not so long ago.

He was firmly in my grasp

He was comfortable and able

Healthy never wealthy

With wisdom he was hoping to acquire.

But now it’s lost

They say he’ll never get it back

But he knows its still there

Just teasingly close

Wanting to show off

But on the outside it’s another story

Aging is happening and he can’t stop it.

He can’t run for buses anymore

He doesn’t think so straight

And most of his bits and pieces

Don’t function like they once did.

He finds that so irritating.

But there are pills and potions

To help with all that.

His mind struggles day in and day out.

His eyes watch him shave the face

Of an unknown man

He turns and notices his spreading girth

The strange clothes he now wears

Puzzles him.

A voice inside reminds him that

He has lost his youth.

How? He asks himself.

He wonders if it’s enough

To know it’s still thriving

Somewhere in his mind.

Poetry 101 Rehab: Sleep

badge-rectangle

This week’s prompt: Sleep

Some nights you are as elusive as happiness,

You tease me at bedtime

You say: come take me

Lose your self in my arms

And I fall for your lure.

Then hours later I am awake

Alone I look for you, only to find,

You have run off to sucker another poor sap.

You leave me dissatisfied

Unfulfilled as I wrestle with my physical self.

When I most desire you I find you laughing at me

Fleeing our marital bed I thought

Once consummated

We had a right and ownership of.

For so long we were

Fated to be joined each night.

But have you grown tired of me?

Do I no longer satisfy you?

Is that why I am left so often bereft?

Floundering, seeking your embrace

Your kiss your soothing touch.

Another night of tediousness

Tossing and turning

My body craves you

My eyes long for your caress

As you assuage my needs.

Mondays Finish the Story – June 15th, 2015 – The Marble

2015-06-15-bw-beacham

Finish the story begins with:  “At first, it looked like an ordinary marble, but it was far from it.”

Rick reached out a tentative finger towards the marble when there was a zap, a bang and an odd sounding crunch and Rick was no more.

Vanished.

There was something odd about this marble.

It sat on the ground in the spot from where Rick had vanished. I walked around it and noticed it turned to follow me.

Was it watching me?

What fate did it have for me?

I decided to gather it into a bucket so with shovel in hand I removed it surrounding dirt and all.

It turned in the bottom of the bucket then the most extra ordinary thing happened.

A hand shape came from the centre, as if it wanted to shake my hand.

I reached out my hand to take it in friendship when……

Wordle #65 “June 15, 2015″ The Radish

week-65

This week’s great words: Delve Tonight Murky Reservoir Marinate Commission Stricture (an adverse criticism, an abnormal contraction of any passage or duct of the body, a restriction) Dregs Magniloquent (speaking or expressed in a lofty or grandiose style; pompous;bombastic; boastful.) Frame Tape Lurid (gruesome, revolting)

It had been a slow day. Most days were slow around here until Walter the Word came in. Walter was the most magniloquent guy around. He spoke a language very few of us understood. Then again anyone speaking a language of more than two syllables was testing the comprehensive abilities of every one I knew, me included. The term ‘pain in the arse’ often came to mind when you saw Walter in the street. You used stronger words if he looked like coming near you.

But today Walter was worried, concerned for his friend Athol ‘The Radish’ Dent.’ It seemed The Radish had disappeared and The Word was worried.

There were lurid rumours going about that The Radish had been found marinating in the towns former reservoir where many a body had been dumped over the years. Divers had delved down into the murky depths and uncovered the body of The Radish.

A quick scan of the police radio laid to rest all reports of a rumour, it was now a fact. The Radish was dead.

The Word there and then commissioned me to look into the case. Who would want The Radish dead I asked?

‘Most people,’ replied The Word looking downcast. The Radish had been a valuable sidekick for the Word and a good sidekick was hard to find.

‘Look around you,’ he went on. ‘Any of the dregs of society had it in for him. Life wasn’t easy for the Radish. Each week the paper published reports of his activities and those strictures bothered him. He was a sensitive man you know. He didn’t take to criticism very well. The cops say how he died?’

‘They said it was a stricture around his neck, you know the type the Frame gang use.’

‘The Frames? What again? Only last week we thought they were responsible for the Misery murders.’

Oh yeah old Mrs Misery and her two daughters, Mind and Loves. That was sad.’

‘It certainly was they still owed me a weeks rent.’

So you think the Frames eh. Glass or Perspex?

‘Probably both. They are each cold blooded and they love to use the tape. Bind your mouth, shut you up and do you in.’

‘That Perspex Frame is a tough nut. Glass on the other hand is a bit fragile. He might be the one to go after and see if we can shatter him so he will spill the beans.’

‘I think we’ll go tonight, raid their place and bring ‘em down. Are you in?’

‘The Radish will expect it wont he?’

‘We’ll dismantle those Frames with our own brand of stricture.’

Writing Prompt #111 “Men” – Its Not Easy Being Male

men

It’s not easy being male

We are on any one-day

Loathedhateddspisedlovedneededdesired

We are capable of the most heinous of actions

We have trouble understanding our masculinity

We have trouble relating to others

We fear being different,

We strive to be one of the boys

For being male is bothersome.

What if you don’t drink?

Don’t smoke?

What if you love your children?

What if your spouse loves the ground you stand on?

Its not easy being male

So many forces come into play

We have a part of us that jousts with our brain

That so often talks us into despicable acts.

We hear women refer to us as ‘being led by our dicks’.

But underneath the bravado

The posturing and the pretend

We are in need of love

Of nurturing

Of understanding.

We are despite our bad press from time to time

Capable of great love

Of acts of unbelievable compassion

To be there when a friend is down

To lift spirits and encourage.

For being a man is to defend our masculinity

To stand up for what is right

To act nobly in the face of adversity.

We are not all bastards and mongrels

Self centred and egotistical.

Some of us live to share our world

With family, loved ones,

Whom we nurture and support.

We crave connection

We want to belong.

Love us for who we are

Take time to find the man in your life.

Its not easy being male.

Literary Saturday Prompt #10 – A Chaste Woman

1dea16c713fa7a84af1ebe52b07fae30

“I thought her
As chaste as unsunned snow.”
Cymbeline by William Shakespeare

Bitch brazen hussy.

I still hear the words ring out.

I walk in the street to stares and sideways glances

I am the product of a smear campaign

To deflect and exonerate the guilty

The idle and the ones desperate

For a moment of glory

Rejoice in my misfortune.

My door is graffitied

My house marked

I am a non-person

I fight for survival

Against those who seek to have me banished.

But only you know the truth

Only you were there

When such atrocities were committed

When society judged me

As a woman of no abide.

I was once a chaste woman

But I have been violated

By monsters who go by day

As pillars in our society.

Their word against mine

I know who won

‘You’ll get over it’

and similar condescension’s.

My steely resolve knows

I will one day be vindicated.

SoCS June 13/15 – onomatopoeia.

socs-badge

Badge by Doobster@ Mindfull Digressions

Crash!

Damm those kids.

Its 3am and they are just getting home.

Another night out clubbing and they arrive home at this late hour and bang and crash their way through the house.

Later when I challenge them about it they will swear they were being as quiet as a mouse and if they did wake me it was because I was awake anyway.

I do still poorly.

My brain hums and ahhs about sleep and I often argue with it in the loudest of ways.

Trouble is it so often argues back and I spend hours it seems living with a pandemonium of sounds binging from one side of my brain to the other.

I sometimes think it’s enough of a din around here as to wake the dead.

Bang crash boom…..Oh my but they’ve blown up the toaster again…..

Scribe’s Cave Picture Prompt #70 – Natural Wonder

It was a shame the Acme Plastic Plate Company went out of business. After all the latest building to use their high tensile plates were now standing looking somewhat desolate in a state of non completion.

Along with their demise was the loss of serious subsidiary industries such as the National Plastic Shaping Workshop and Grice’s Plastic Glue and Adhesive Company.

Thousands were out of work including the hundreds who worked on the assembly of the buildings. Now the community was left with an eye sore of monumental proportions.

There was uproar in the streets, protests and demonstrations but all to no avail as the bottom had fallen out of plastic and there was no going back.

After weeks of discussion it was decided to leave the buildings unfinished and grow climbing roses over the structure.

Fifty years later it was classed as one of the natural wonders of the 23rd century.
