Special Collection Flash Fiction Challenge

January 28, 2021, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about life as a river of consciousness. Think about the possibilities of the prompt. Go where the prompt leads!

When he fell in I was intrigued as to what I might find.

I knew what to expect.

Panic, fear, confusion, desperation.

I had plenty of those all around me.

This guy had a sense of consciousness, I could feel it as he initially struggled.

He knew he was lost so he set his mind to evaluating his life.

I enveloped him, allowed him to relax as he pondered his past and present.

There was no fear, but rather a calm acceptance came over him.

He’d been a good man, I embraced him as he sunk into my depths.
