Cheating often involves one or two individuals, and often it happens in isolation.
This past week we in Australia have been disappointed to hear of our national cricket team cheating in the current series being played in South Africa.
Some might say what’s the fuss over a game?
For many of us, cricket is synonymous with being Australian.
We grew up playing in our back yards, later we played in competitions within our local communities and all the while we looked up to our national team, they were our heroes, playing a game held up to be a challenge between bat and ball but always played fair.
If we were not good enough on the day, then we lost, and there was always next week to look forward to.
Our current team has ripped that ideal away from us. They conspired to flout the rules of the game and bring shame on us all.
Cricket is a game with a great history. Wonderful players are remembered and revered no matter what country they have come from.
Today our sense of fairness, playing a game for the fun of playing is in tatters.
I can only hope the players who survive this disgrace are able to resurrect the passion we all feel for this wonderful game.
Yes, so sad.
It is Elsie
Only only hope those complicit will be sacked, it’s a disgrace to have have knowingly planned such a farce and even dream they would escape all the cameras …. they are not players, they just got greedy for a win, morons!
Well said Kate…
I’m still stunned. I couldn’t believe it when Steve Smith threw young Cameron Bancroft under the bus by saying, “Do you want to take that question?” That’s cowardice as far as I’m concerned.
I saw his interview tonight and I think he will take a long time to heal
Yes, so do I. He’s always seemed like a little boy to me. But maybe I’m just reading too much into it.

Lightens it up a little.
If such a thing is possible. Never would you see this at the Kilmeston Cricket Club
Wow! From the comments, I take that the story is true. I hate when bad sportsmanship and/or bad ‘seemingly purposeful’ calls control the outcome of a game. I am very competitively driven. I LOVE TO WIN. But I don’t think it would have a thrill to it if I won by cheating. Thanks for participating this week.
My pleasure Roger
