Each lock is someone’s undying love
I wonder if they hold true today.
Do the vibrant red symbolise something more
Or the flamboyant couple needing to be different.
Do the gaps represent a love that has died?
A stolen relationship, one gone sour.
I felt her hand tighten as we stood in front
Her fingers encased in mine,
Both left, and right the fence was littered
With symbols of love.
I asked her if she wanted to proclaim our love in this way
A token of us among so many.
She replied wasn’t it enough we knew,
Who else needed to know?

Who would get the keys to their hearts?
Keys kept close to each one’s hearts.
Aw, how romantic.
There’s still some left inside of me good sir.
My original thoughts were hearts being locked away, but I couldn’t get it right. I liked this.
Thanks Di.
Having stood on the bridge in Poland and Prague and looked on many different locks I wondered at the many couples who placed their lock and of the many more, like myself who didn’t. Loved your musings on it here.
Thanks Tric, appreciate you stopping by.
Lovely, Michael!
Thanks so much Penny. Have a good day.
In my story, the couple cut the lock off with bolt cutters but it occurred to me that if they could have gotten away with it, a blow torch would have been better. 😉
Certainly more spectacular.
Indeed. Of course, it would have attracted cops like dogs to fresh meat.
A worthwhile risk? You think?
Maybe.
I’ve seen these displays of undying love on television and wondered how many of those relationships might still be intact. It might be fun to leave a lock for the photo op. And also, if for nothing else than the memory of what led you there.
That’s true though in Paris they are discouraging people as the weight of the locks is causing bridges to collapse. There has to be a irony in that I think.
Oh, my goodness. That is a terrible visual! :O
There were a few places where once there were locks. But now just safety fencing.
Expressions of love may have to find another venue😊
Well I would say that you, as a woman of some learning and wisdom, would well be aware that people who love each other would always find a new avenue in which to impart thoughts of such love and affection. So maybe not locks as such but some other symbol of affection. Humans are such an emotional lot I find.
Yes, the could use trees to carve their initials. If they’d stop cutting them down😬
With their new Swiss Army knives they bought while visiting Switzerland.
Perfect! 🙂
