When they discovered the old couples dining room, they stood aghast.
There before them lay their last supper.
The mains were untouched with only a bite or two taken from the bagels.
The glasses were stained from the wine left standing in the glasses.
It had taken the searchers several days to find the dining room. The old couple lived in a sprawling mansion where the corridors and passages were warren-like.
So, reclusive were they the alarm had not been raised for some months. Then the search, then discovery. They scratched their heads as the food had not tainted.

I thought along these lines as well to begin with, then switched to breakfast.
It seemed to good to be true to me….but I did like the dining table and chairs..
The food must have been loaded with preservatives. It still looks edible after all that time. Just pop it in the microwave to warm it up.
Well one should be optimistic I guess…
