The girl sits on the edge of her bed
Her mobile phone between her fingers
She tosses it around in her hand
There’s an urge to throw it out the window
To be rid of it once and for all.
Where it once brought her excitement and fun
It’s now the purveyor of hurt and shame
The guilt rises in her throat.
She questions how she could have been so stupid.
She knows she ignored every warning sign
Now she is cut to the quick.
She looks at the note still beaming at her from the screen
“God knows I never meant to hurt you..”
She bites her lip and thinks, “Too late.”

Yes, a follow up maybe..
For a minute, I thought it was about “sexting” and that she’d sent some compromising photos to a boyfriend who then shared them on the internet. There’s also the side where a boy might have gone too far with her without her consent, which we’re seeing a lot of in the news lately, at least relative to Hollywood celebrities. There are a lot of different directions that the “hurt” could go in.
