This week’s photo prompt is provided by Etol Bagam, author of the blog, Creative Busyness
There was a collective slurp followed by a Whizz, Wang, Whooo and a rather worrying Urrrrr.
The utterer of the urrrrr attracted their attention, as he was usually the quieter of the four.
‘You seem troubled,’ said the Wang.
‘Disturbed?’ asked the Whizz
‘What it is?’ asked the Whooo
‘Have you seen them?’ asked the Urrrrr
‘Who?’ asked the Whizz
‘Them,’ replied the Urrrrr
‘What about them?’ asked the Whooo
‘They are so ugly,’ said the Urrrrr, ‘their arms dangle by their sides, they come in such bland colours, they speak in the strangest ways and they drive such prehistoric vehicles.’
‘And they think their sh…….’ the Wang was about to say.
‘Enough,’ said the Whizz, ‘we are visitors and we can’t upset them.’
‘Well we can’t blend in,’ said the Wang
‘Who’d want to?’ exclaimed the Urrrrr. ‘When’s the next ship home?’
‘Tuesday,’ said the Whizz….
A gloom settled upon them.
As the gloom settled comfortably around them they let out a collective slurp.

Hehehe … I like their names and the dialogue too.
So the ship comes in on Tuesday, any chance it’s the FFfAW mother-ship?
Hello now that’s a good point….
Can’t blend in…yep, I know how that goes 🙂
I’m hoping you aren’t implying you resemble one of those characters J??????
Trying not to laugh so hard that I jiggle my head–nope, I don’t resemble those characters, but the whole concept of “fitting in” escapes me 🙂 See you later 🙂
Yeah well we all have those issues i think, I’m one too…..
One of the more brilliant unexpected gifts of blogging for me, has been to discover that I’m not nearly as “odd” as I thought–or at least that I’m among a league of extraordinary eccentrics of one kind or another. Now, THAT is worth celebrating, I say!
Awww how cute are they! If aliens looked like that, come on down I say.
Yes exactly Jen, what have we to fear…
Hahaha! Cute story! I really enjoyed reading this Michael. They are in a strange land with strange looking beings and they want to go home ASAP! LOL!
Thanks Joy, it was a fun prompt to write to.
It really is a fun photo prompt!
XD …. bloody brilliant!
Thanks Pat, bloody glad you thought so….
still laughing at it … the image is burned into my head and so is your little story … it was 5:30 a.m. and I was dusting up the place here …. laughing away … good thing no one was around …. it’d be hard to explain XD
Well it’s 4.45am here so having a good laugh would
Be a great way to start your day….hope today’s a good one too.
Geeze you’re up early! Hope your day is wonderful and you’re feeling well 😀
The day is moving along …. almost 1 p.m. and it’s time for a nap! I’m zonked 😉
You must be in the same time zone as New York.
It’s going to be a hot one today so I’ll take walk a little earlier than usual before the heat sets in…
LOL ….. aren’t you lucky … enjoying Spring …. yup … I am indeed in the NY time zone …. just not there … well …. stay cool and comfortable and well hydrated …. and enjoy the rest of your day Michael 🙂
Cute story! The kids will love this 🙂
Thanks Nortina, I hope they do….
Very cute. I feel their pain, slurp. 🙂
Hi Deborah, thanks for stopping by.
This is a very good story, that suits the picture very well 🙂 I like the idea that they have found themselves stuck somewhere they can’t blend in very easily, makes you wonder what the other worlds are like.
Thanks Angie yes one does wonder…..appreciate you stopping by.
Probably by now you have read the email from Paul that Barbara passed away last Sunday. I’m feeling pretty sad right now. I have found a photo/picture that we can use for that challenge you were talking about. It has a light house on it, not a jetty. Also, the post will have to come from the FFfAW challenge because I don’t have access to Barb’s blog. If you still think we should do this, then I need for you to come up with a starting sentence.
Hi Joy, sorry but I didn’t see your email about Barb, that is very sad and she is the second one in the past few days to pass away in similar circumstances.
I thought we could use a sentence like:
She’d been a beacon to us all, what more fitting place to gather to remember her.
Around the corner I found her sitting there.
I guess you will make it clear what the purpose of the prompt is Joy, be interesting to see what responses we get.
Hope this has helped.
Yours in shared sadness Michael
I’m sorry to hear that there was another person that recently passed away too. It is such a sad time here in the states to pass away as Thursday is our Thanksgiving and next month is Christmas. Both big holidays here.
I hope the image I selected is appropriate but I couldn’t find one to fit with the jetty sentence.
I have written the challenge for this and will send it out probably Friday since Thursday is Thanksgiving. I don’t want to send it out tomorrow because Friday Fictioneers sends theirs out tomorrow (Wednesday). (Today is Tuesday).
Thanks Joy I’ll be looking for it….
Thank you for the suggestion Michael.
A really cute story, and I love their names! Too bad they have to feel ill at ease, but their ship will be there soon and they can leave the strange people behind and go back to their home. At least they will have something to talk about when they get back.
I guess so Jessie, thanks for stopping by..
Cute story, cute names. Hope their ship comes on time. LOL 🙂
Thank you Susan, I hope so too…
Oh my not the collective slurp!! 😉 Love the names, fun read!! Made me laugh out loud…
Thank you for reading glad you had a laugh..
Some very funny lines. Thanks for the laugh.
