Across the seas you came

A lost and forlorn waif

Calling my name

You clung to me

Stories told

Heads together, tears shed.

A lost child an urchin searching

With memories horrific

Experiences no one should have.

It took days of calming

Talking until late

Rising to find your pillow

Streaked with the grief of the previous night.

Finally in the soft light of evening

You stated a desire

To get out, see for yourself

The possibilities I had spoken of.

Later you emerged

A vision in blue.

I glanced up to see

A beautiful spectacle,

Words could not be uttered

As a princess descended the stairs.

The hard street brat gone

Now a woman of sophistication

With purpose and poise

I gasped,

A lump rose in my throat.

Serene commanding all attention.

wonderful – your words created this vision so clearly – I can already read the understory.

Serene came down the stairs. Heart cried out, filled with dreams and possibilities. The princess was always there, inside, unsung. She needed someone to recognize it, and show her the tao of what lies beyond the rags of our todays.

    • What you say is exactly as i intended it. I think there is a princess inside all of us, though I think I’d personally prefer the prince model myself. Not everyone gets the opportunity not only to find theirs but to show it off. Thanks so much for that great comment.

  6. Heather says:

    I can see her 🙂
