100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups – Week #136 – it was 50 years ago

100wcgu-7

I was riding my bike from school when I fell off and landed on my knee.

I gashed it; blood flowed, if I look closely the scar remains.

No thought then of going to the doctor or the hospital.

My mother would wash it and apply a rough bandage. I sucked it up and waited for it to stop hurting so I could get back on my bike.

You’ll be all right tomorrow she’d say. I guess it was her hoping I would be ok and not need further attention.

How precious we have become with this current generation.

Back then our parents patched us up and off we went on more adventures! My parents did the same and we grew up whole. Amazing how that worked eh?

This was the trick to help our bumps & scrapes heal – LOL

  3. Indeed good though painful memories. Today it’s the doctor and special character bandages and lots of loud sobbing. I hope today’s kids can tough it out when the time comes. 😮

I’d like a dollar for the number of times I fell off my bike – or crashed to the ground while running. LOL but the worst part was when my mother found I’d scratched one of my scabs and she would dab it with metho – YEOWCH!

  5. You know I think I coddled my kids but my daughter is quite the opposite with her son and she more strict… so maybe it skips a generation.

  6. You nailed it! Good story.
