She said talk to me.
Tell me the secrets you hide.
Why? I asked
Because then I’ll begin to know you.
But isn’t this enough
No never. I wont tire of you.
But you may not like what you hear.
Let me be the judge of that.
You are asking a lot.
I know, trust?
Do I trust you?
Yes?
Yes.
Then open your heart to me.
‘You are asking me
To bear my soul
Allow you into places no one has been
My deepest dark regions
Where sentinels guard
And locks hold fast
Against any intruder,
And should any penetrate
A shut down can instantly occur.
Be awry of what you ask for.’
It’s about trust.
You’ll judge me
No, I’ll listen.
Really?
Yes.
I’m unsure.
Give me your hand. Now you can begin.

Hmm I like and how guarded we can be, trust a big issue, written well my friend.
Yes jenny always a big issue, one we have to earn. Thanks for the comment.
🙂 you are welcome
I know!!!!
Shoosh now
I can see myself in your flowing poem :-). Thanks
Thanks for reading, I am very pleased you can relate to this poem.
Great reflection on a key issue in any healthy and serious relationship!
Thanks Gabriella yes it is a very important aspect of relationship.
I could relate to the feelings you’ve written beautifully in the poem. Developing trust takes ages, however it can crumble into pieces very easily.
Thanks Marysue, yes I agree what takes ages can crumble quickly when trust is violated. Thanks for reading.
Trust is serious. Trust is hope and trust can be the opening of great things. Wonderful poem.
Thanks Jackie, you are right it is the very basis of any sustainable relationship.
Beautiful – the tentative move towards trust, the knowledge of the import of that step…wonderfully expressed! 🙂 🙂
Thank you so much Helen.
I can see a bit of me in that poem. Thank-You 🙂
I think there is a bit of everyone in this one. Thanks for the comment.
You are welcome. I love it,when one writes what I like to call a ‘Truthful poem’ I find it is refreshing to read a poem with honesty contained within.
Thanks Adam, I write always from the heart. except when I am being frivolous. But always positive.
I find trust to be dependent on the person. I can trust one person in a very short time and another, well, never. It’s about intuition for me.
I do understand what you are saying Lori, I would say its a woman’s intuition that is often very perceptive in such matters. Thanks for that good comment.
So love this…so real to many people; Fritz Perls, I believe quoted something like “If I show you who I am, what have I left for me?”
That is the essence of trust isn’t it. Revealing oneself and trusting the person to whom you reveal accepts you as you are.
I trust with caution. I don’t like that. But – life experiences have taught me that that’s the way to go.
So true RoSy, we react as our past has dictates and when you know its not right bells ring and lights flash
WP won’t let me like it.
Oh trust…..such a gift and yet so many throw it away easily.
No one likes anyone today, and yes so easily discarded by some…shame isn’t it…hurt cuts deep.
very deep
Take care dear friend…
