Christmas morning,
From five thirty down under
Strong morning sun,
Heat biting so early,
Warm day threatens,
Children awake
Toys explored
Parents awakened
Sleepily turn in their beds
Hearing children frolicking
The morning a blaze with heat
Humidity rising.
Christmas light until beyond eight pm
A long day,
Feasting, laughter
Celebration
Family and friends
It’s how we do it
In singlet and shorts.
For d’verse lights or candles.

that is so different from what we’re used to… would love to celebrate christmas in the warmth one day… one year is was in sydney and november and for me it was so strange to see all the christmas decoration in the shops and walking around in t-shirt and shorts…
Thanks claudia, for me it would be different to see your winter Christmas, though we get plenty of images. But we all celebrate in a similar way. Thanks for the comment.
ha. when i lived in warmer clims i was in shorts…back home in the mountains you may start missing some body parts if you walk around ill dressed…christmas is a wonderfully long day though…full of people coming in and out of the picture…which to me is the blessing…
Thanks brian, yes you are right, no matter where we live Christmas is the same celebration and its how we love to spent it, with family and friends. Thanks again.
Oh, it would be so unusual for me to celebrate Christmas with so much warmth and such long hours of daylight. But the toys and the children frolicking and feasting all ring true here in these cold climates as well! Smiles.
Thanks Mary, despite our climatic differences we do all celebrate the same thing, just you wear a woolly vest and I don’t. Thanks again for the comment. I am learning so much about your northern winters from these prompts and this time of year, loving it.
Lovely way of celebration. Well-penned. 🙂

Thank so much HA I appreciate your comment.
That sound so different.. I have celebrated Christmas in warmer climates a few times… (and I like it a lot…) ,,, so different.
Thanks Bjorn, we celebrate when we have a day where the temperature is below 30C on Christmas Day. Or as for rain, paradise!
Light at 5:30 in the morning is just alien to me, Michael! One year we had a very mild Christmas and ran on the beach with my siblings and cousins but, of course, the lights were still winter lights and by 5 pm we had to go back inside.
I can imagine that would be odd. In Queensland where they don’t have daylight saving it is sunny at 4.30am, and that is odd. Thanks so much for your comment.
Until 8 years ago, we celebrate Christmas this way – dresses, shorts & light wear & out in the sun ~ I am still coping with the cold and winter celebrations here ~
Thanks Grace what i describe is how I have always spent Christmas, I am fascinated by the stories of the northern Christmas. Thanks again for your comment.
Cool! the epitome of an aussie Christmas!! 🙂 🙂
Thank you Helen I am sure you related well to this.
with our weather finally getting warmer down south (36 on Friday!) I am anticipating a hot Christmas Day – with summer flowing dresses and sandals. An Aussie Christmas spent in the sun – with the laughter of kids and fun for everyone.. oops it’s your verse not mine 😉 You described it well mate 🙂
Thanks Jenny, we well know what our Christmas can be like.
yes possibly hailstorms 😦
One hopes not, but rain is ok….never as hot then…
Oh how I love this! I’m there! Living it, feeling the heat, and imagining the fun of Christmas down under!
Always fun Linda, hot and often sweaty but always fun….
Your warmness is much appreciated… if only we could have Christmas in the summer. Other than that, it sounds very similar. Happy Holidays.
Lovely.
Can I request a Christmas gift from you this year? PLEEEASE!
Please send me some of that warmth & sunshine 🙂
If I could bottle it then gladly.
🙂
My son will be downunder for Christmas. I am looking forward to hearing from him what he thought.
I am sure he will be hot but hopefully in a cool place.
Thanks for the comment.
