Poem 30

Art work © Anja Partin.

There’s so much going on in

Your agile mind

I watch in fascination,

Your thought process astounds me.

In awe I read your words

Of where and of why,

Of laughter, of pain.

Mother, teacher, friend,

Achieved every day

With a minimum of effort?

Hardly

For I know you work hard

With astonishing resilience.

I know because your children love the ground you stand on,

Your students adore you

Your stories

Your play

How lucky are those to have that contact

Who reach out

And receive that smile, that love.

  1. What a wonderful tribute, beautifully expressed – I hope your subject gets to read such a lovely poem in her honour! 🙂 🙂

Although I did read this yesterday, it means just as much today. Thank you so much for your friendship as well as these lovely words. It is not often (at least not for me) that a wonderful friend writes a poem as a gift. 🙂 Thank you so much.

Others have already said it but I shall echo – what a beautiful, kind and loving tribute. It is clearly about someone who is special indeed.

    • Thanks Pooky, as I said on Monday, today’s would be different and yes it is about someone very special indeed.

It’s a testament to your poetic skill that you’re able to write two so different but beautiful poems just hours apart.

I’m intrigued as to why you number your poems rather than name them?

      • I’m cheap!! I see each one as having an equal value. 30 did have a name but its contained within the poem….anyway that’s my story. So far I have up to Poem 34 in waiting, and they are all different, sort of.

It’s an interesting approach. I wondered if perhaps they were a specific series. But it’s just that you’re cheap. I can live with that 😉

      • Some are from a series, the ‘erotic’ type ones are from aseries I wrote some time ago and I have edited them to protect the innocent, so to speak. Most are spontaneous though todays and the next one similar are given some thought.
