Mirror, toss/tossing, troubled, clock, dawn, after, willing, unceasing, stairs, brow, turning, creaking
I tossed a casual glance at the mirror.
I was troubled. I found it troubling.
The clock behind me reminded me that time moves on
The dawn will emerge from the darkness
Day will dawn and after many hours
Willing time to slow down
I realise it’s unceasing plodding on.
I rush up the stairs to rescue my childhood,
The sweat on my brow drips down my face
And turning to look back I hear a creaking on the stairs
It frightens me; my past catching up with me.

Thanks Sadje lovely you could stop by. Also it’s good to see a face to your name 😀
My pleasure! Yes I did that a while ago.

Thanks so much. Keeping my head above water.
That’s important 😊
Well done! Your last line was perfect.
Thanks so much Susan I appreciate you stopping by.
That is quite chilling to think of the creaking is our past catching up with us! Great use of the words.
Thanks so much
I’m convinced, Michael, that time goes faster the older you get. Wasn’t it only Easter last week? 🤔
Yes so often seems like that.
