When they hit the freezing water their senses awoke to just how cold it was,
The shudder ran through them as they gasped in surprise
Looking down from the bridge it appeared so inviting
And leaning over for a closer look was all it took,
Snap! Then: “Oh! No! I can’t believe I’m about to hit the pool.”
Spluttering they looked at each other and surveyed how far it was to shore
They had no change of clothing so it would be a cold trip home.
Muttering as to their stupidity, they waded ashore,
The bridge stood beside them, unmoved, unrepentant,
But inside they were sure it was laughing at them.

Good one. It does look inviting!
Thanks for stopping by
Thank you, Michael, for reminding me what it’s like to walk home drenched to the skin cos I’d fallen the water. And it was February (which across the marshes blows cold)
I bet it was uncomfortable
I was wearing a skirt, which made it worse. Though it was a modestly long skirt. But it froze on the walk home, and the wind slapped it against my bare legs. Not at all nice.
I can imagine how cold and uncomfortable that must have been. Thankfully it doesn’t get that cold around these parts.
Well, I try to stay away from such potential hazards these days. Try. 🙂
Good story. Perfect for the picture
Thanks so much Sadje
You’re welcome 😊
