Today’s prompt is: A funny event in your life.
A once stupid event in hindsight becomes a funny event.
It was winter, and we had a wood-burning heater, which required me to cut up wood.
This particular day it was cold and wet, and I had stored wood in the pagoda in the back yard.
The pagoda also had a few lines strung across it for hanging out washing.
Thinking I knew what I was doing, I swung my axe only for it to get caught in the line and then, upon release, it crashed into my head.
There was blood everywhere, and as I sat on the bathroom floor with an old towel controlling the blood flow, I heard my household rolling with laughter but very little sympathy.
Yep, I can imagine that. 🙂
Ouch, that must’ve hurt. The wound and the laughter.
The lack of sympathy especially.
I know!
Ouch – good take and hope you healed quickly
Yes I eventually bounced back..
That could have turned out a lot worse, Michael. So glad you survived.
Yes I was lucky the blunt end hit me.
Thank the good Lord for that 🙂
120 words of humor so dark, I thought a mile wide tornado was coming at me. That was one day you probably wished you’d stayed in bed.
That had to be humiliating! To make it worse, you were forced to take care of the wound on your own while everyone laughed. I can only imagine how much that had to hurt.
Yes true but thankfully my head is my toughest bit
I’ve been told that before, too. 🙂
Ouch! I thought it would end with just a bunch of clothes falling onto you/ the floor and getting dirty and needing a re-wash. This version was just painful. Glad you’re ok.
Some could argue hitting my head was a good thing as the rest of me is more fragile 😁
Good heavens, that sounds terrible. I can’t imagine laughing about it.
It’s more laughable now than back then.
