My wife and I had extended our holiday in Morgue by an extra week as we found the community very relaxing and welcoming.
At breakfast one morning there had appeared a brochure announcing the annual Morgue Kite Festival.
So we turned up at the local showground where pretty much every local was there putting finishing touches to their respective kites. There were stalls selling everything you could imagine including DIY kite kits. We purchased a kit, as it would fit easily in our luggage for the trip home.
A whistle blew, and the sky was filled with kites of every colour and hue. It was the most spectacular exhibition I’d seen.
I asked a local if there was a prize for the winning kite. “Oh eye,” he replied pulling on the cord controlling his magnificent red kite.
Another whistle blew, and every kite and controller began a series of complicated and meticulous dives and loops.
With every successful loop, there was a collective “Oh eye.” from the massed kiters.
We retired that night convinced the town of Morgue, and its inhabitants were possessed with a rare magic, and we looked forward to the next day.
Seeing so many in close proximity is breathtaking. We saw a lot on the beach at Weston Super Mare a few years ago. Awesome to watch.
Yes and you have to marvel at the skill of the ones flying them.
They’re great aren’t they!
Watching a spectacle like that would have been magical! Well done. I hope to see you again next week.
I hope so too
Wallie didn’t know that there are kite competitions like this! Amazing. 🙂
Thanks so much
