It was pure happenstance that I arrived at the finishing post just as the escaped bull burst onto the tracks.
We stared at each other, both frozen to the spot.
The bull pawed the ground, I thought of the nearest escape.
As it moved so did I, the crowd by now in a frenzy of excitement.
The bull puzzled by the noise stopped and tried to eat, unsuccessfully, the artificial turf, much to its continued displeasure.
