The phone rang, and Barney was on the other end.
“Has your house a green roof?”
“Yes. Why do you ask?”
“I’m sitting on top of the Library, and I thought it was your house I could see.”
“What are you doing up there?”
“Thinking about things. It’s a wonderful view.”
“You’re not going to jump are you?”
“Jump?”
“ Yes, I’m worried about you now.”
“No need to be, it’s such a pleasant day and I can see a long way. Life’s understandable from up here.”
“But people have jumped from there.”
“Goodness no. The fall would kill me.”
