Our homophone sets this week are:
hail – frozen rain
hale – robust health
and
Chile – South American country
chilli – dried pod of red pepper
chilly – uncomfortably cool
It was Paul from Chile, a hale and hearty chap, who one day was caught in a hail storm and in so seeking shelter found himself in Colin’s chilli shop where the air-con made him feel considerably chilly.
Colin said: Oye, señor, ¿por qué te mueves tanto? (Hey Mister why you shiver so much?)
Paul replied: Tu tienda de chiles es muy fría para un tipo sano y abundante como yo.(Your chilli shop is much too chilly for a hale and hearty chap like me.)
So Colin turned up the air-con and Paul feeling more hale and hearty was then able to enjoy the chilli and not feel as chilly as he did before as he watched the hail tumble down.

Aaaah English as she is goodly spoken. No wonder people whose first language isn’t English get confused 🙂
Air conditioning is not so great when you get wet.
Very chilly I would say.
