With the arrival of spring came the hope of renewal and regeneration.
It had been a tough winter, not only the endless cold nights but also the lack of contact.
She had been stuck inside so long, cabin fever was raging inside of her and she needed to get out.
Her first venture outside gave her the yellow flower. Growing out of the crack in the pathway she immediately thought of the resilience it must have taken to sprout against the still cold air.
It was what she thought she needed, resilience.
It was all so easy to give up and accept her lot.
The TV was her escape; it took her places she dare not ever think she could actually do.
Normally she would have plucked the flower and sat it in a glass on her kitchen sink.
But today she decided to leave it be.
She needed a reminder that she too could exercise some resilience, be braver than yesterday and step out and see what was happening in the world.

The pic has a certain attraction because it reflects some brave situations of certain strong-minded individuals. And you did well to point it out. Wonderful story to match, Michael!
