Writing Prompt: January 8th – SMS

sms_by_bfaupin-d6lwc6o

The challenge is to write a piece composed of text messages.

I waited all afternoon,

it was blazing hot

you said three o’clock

I was there

Where were you?

Traffic was hideous

Caught and couldn’t get out

Arrived at four thirty

You had gone

So disappointed.

You lying hound

Cathy saw you in the pub at four

Said you were drinking with mates

You bastard

Standing me up.

Honest truth I was caught up

Tried to ring, no reception

Stopped in the pub to cool off

Saw a mate or two

One drink led to another.

Well you did your dough

No more waiting round for you

Snivelling leach

Got better things to do

See ya round arsehole.

Glad you’ve ended it

Knew I wouldn’t like your attitude

So high and mighty

Precious bitch that you are

Go jump.

I’ll make the Face Book announcement

Short and sweet

Goodbye to bad rubbish

Stick up your jumper

You’re history.

  1. Wonder how many relationships these days are ended via social media?
You did a good job ending this one. Well done on the texting. I’m still a neophyte on that medium.

  2. Remind me never to stand you up then. 😊 Well done M.

  3. Dumped by text. It figures that would follow after email……….. reminds me of the 2009 film Ghosts of Girlfriends Past where he dumped three by visual conference call!
    Good post Michael.

  4. That told her! I reckon she literally got the message. Nice one.

  5. Oloriel says:

Ouch. This is sadly the tale of many relationships nowadays, they last as a social media post.
I don’t get it though, why do people no longer call, and why there is so much less bonding, and why are we nurturing a world devoid of ourselves.

    • Michael says:

I agree totally….messaging is such an easy way out of so many situations that would turn out better if we used actual words….preferably spoken..

  6. Miss Lou says:

Whatever happened to just avoiding each other for weeks or being sick and cancelling 4 dates in a row to get the message across..

Oh how the days have changed.
