“Now let this be a warning,” she said as she cut my credit card into a lot of pieces.
“You need to be responsible, you have a family to provide for. You need to organise yourself better with a budget and paying bills with a credit card is no way to get ahead.”
“I was short this week,” I pleaded as my once prized credit card disappeared into the bin.
“If you don’t think you earn enough money get another job. After all, all you do between midnight and dawn is sleep!”
The next week I presented a budget. She looked at it and agreed it was a good idea.
“Glad you’ve taken responsibility at last,” she said as she helped herself to 80% of my pay check whilst eyeing off a new set of Royal Doulton.

A warning indeed!
Thanks Ritu…
LOL reminds me a bit of my Aunt… in a roundabout sort of way. She and my uncle were quite well off, but he was financially astute (although not a tightwad by any means) but if she wanted something, and he said “we don’t really need it,” she would say to him, “You’ll be sorry when I’m dead that you didn’t buy it for me.” 😮
LOL…I know couples like that too….
