It all started with an image, a boat adrift,
Then as it drew closer I saw
A boy and a girl,
Drifting, chatting, focused on each other
The girl decorating, blowing bubbles
Festooning the boat with balloons.
She sang softly to him as they paddled by
Oblivious to all around,
Her song so beautiful I saw tears in the boy’s eyes.
In the centre of the pond they stopped
She took his hand and whispered in his ear,
She lay him down in the boat and caressed and loved him
There they stayed, their time was theirs
So precious, so treasured.
He emerged smiling, took up the oars
Once again they floated with the stream
She popping the balloons as they slipped away
Their focus on one another.
And so as they rounded the bend
I speculated on what occurred there.

This is beautiful poetry Michael. Its always a sort of mystery what goes on between two people.
Thank you so much Joy
lovely poem, Michael 🙂
Thank you LL
Romantically mysterious…kept reading till the last word and indeed the story leaves the reader wondering…engrossing effect. Really enjoyed
Thank you so much appreciate you stopping by.
One can only imagine, eh? I wonder if they lived happily-ever-after? What lovely work.
Thank you Ry, I am sure they worked to make it happily ever after..
Oh, this is so beautiful. Wonderful, Michael.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your stopping by. Do you have a name I can address you by?
Hi Michael. My name is Diana, but my friends call me Di, and some refer to me as Pen on my blog. I don’t mind either way. 🙂
Thanks Di, I like to address familiar bloggers by a name so thanks for that. Have a good day.
You too Michael.
You created a lovely, romantic image. But why the tears?
The tears are a comment on the nature of the song she sang which reduced him to tears, maybe the magnitude of her love for him was overwhelming…
Ah, I love your answer.
Neat story Michael. I’m not sure if he’s dreaming, or if he’s seen what’s occurred. If he has it kind of gives me this voyer aspect to the speaker and that’s a bit disturbing.
Beautiful!
Thank you…
