I watch as lines are drawn

Criss-crossing on the concrete floor

Mesmerising at first

A jumble it appears of thoughts

Of ideas going nowhere.

This is the first of this kind

Previous murals being on walls

Where standing was the method of applying

The trademark colours of your work.

This time reminiscent of Michelangelo

Your body cries out on pain

As you crouch and paint those long hours

The exacting geometry of pattern.

Before my eyes the pool appears

The ripple of water, the depth,

The invitation to dive in

Luxuriate in tempting waters.

The image only to be visible from above

Where drones film it and we are left

Once again in awe of your extraordinary ability.

Lovely❤ I love the way you describe the pattern as a jumble of thoughts and ideas going nowhere. Such passion and precision in your verse😊Beautifully executed. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights and for your constant love and support.

    Lots of love,
    Sanaa

How he did that, I don’t know. Such exacting detail! You have every right to be a proud Dad 🙂

    • Michael says:

It was an experiment as he hadn’t done a floor mural before. As I said in the poem he suffered for it, all the bent over played havoc with him. But it turned out brilliantly I think.

  3. Beautiful work. I can’t imagine being able to plan that out and execute it. Your poem points out the doing of it, the work, the love, the talent poured into it. At least two talented members of your family exhibited here.

  4. I love the idea itself, a floor mural. Like your poem suggests, it takes something known and makes it new and different. How can one not be enchanted by this view, by its implication, by the lines written within its colors and shapes.

Just wonderful, Michael. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

I love how you switch effortless from ceiling to floor – each requiring a step back to appreciate and really admire both the process and result..

Brilliantly written piece, by you, the proud father, for an equally brilliant and talented son 😀

I seriously thought that was a tiled pool when I first saw it! Your words describe perfectly the fascination it creates 😀 XXX

Art has no boundaries and and your son’s brilliant artwork shows how important experimentation is in being creative. The shimmering impression of sun on water in this abstract work is outstanding. Dad’s verse is excellent too!

    • Michael says:

Thank you I do try, for him its a natural act. Exciting watching where he will go next. he is working on a quilt at the moment, sewing one I mean…
