Today’s #maydays prompt – books.
They sit upon my shelves
Repositories of knowledge
Escapes into fantasy
Rollicking tales of adventure
Calming tomes of meditation.
They are part of my life
From childhood I buried myself
Inside the words of great authors
Sailed the seas, visited new and exotic places
Fell in love with heroines
And dreamed of emulating heroes.
There are factual tales
Tales of the imagination
Written to entice and enthral.
Harry Potter sits along side Douglas Adams
With Fawkner, Keats and Poe
Holding their own against
The modern young and prolific scribes
Who delight and sometimes disappoint
But always intrigue and fascinate.
My love of magic, fact and absurdity
Sit comfortably hand in hand.

Like this poem a lot. I think you imply a sort of magic which can be found in books.
Great take Michael!
I think so Mandi, the magic takes all forms from fantasy or action, I think anything that takes you into the mind of the writer is a magical moment…..
Great post, Michael. I love the collection and as Mandi says the sense of magic you weave so well into the poem. Very well done! KL ❤
Thanks KL, another excellent prompt to play with….

Now this is a tribute to books ❤ Love the references, love the affection that's present throughout the poem, and love the way you weaved the old classics with the new 🙂
Thanks Jade its the way I have my books all rubbing spines with one another…
